"As society changes, rules and regulations need to compensate that" - Martine Wright, London bomb victim

ITV News

“If you have a genuine claim – where someone else is to blame – you should be able to get compensation from those at fault. This is only fair. The victim or the tax payer shouldn’t have to pay out where someone else is to blame. But there is not always someone to blame. Genuine accidents do happen.”

Do I need to visit a doctor or go to a hospital?

A medical record is required in order for a claim to pursue. The claimant must see or has seen a doctor or a hospital doctor, as it would prove the sustained injuries from a medical background. There needs to be some form of medical evidence of the injuries and a visit to a doctor as soon as possible after the accident would prove the extent of them. We will arrange for the claimant to attend a specialist doctor in accident injuries, at a later stage for a full thorough examination in order to assess the injuries and possible outline of compensation.

I don't feel like putting in claim now, but will do later as I have 3 years?

We understand that you have 3 years for making a claim, but you could be paid much lower than what you are entitled to. What this mean is, if you claim now all your injuries, medicals and out of pocket expenses will be easily remembered and judged. A medical specialist will assessment your injuries that have occurred and the likely durations. Since they can make judgement accurately of your injuries duration and future effects, you will get a better report, thus a better payout. Now if you claim later like 1 year or 2, your injuries would have passed on. You still will need to see a medical specialist, and you are not going to get a good result and most of your injuries have faded. As you would need evidence to show the effect of the injuries and that means regular visits to the GP as I'm sure you don't have time for that. That's why the earlier you make a claim, the better position you are for a good payout.

What is an acknowledgement date?

This is where the injury has been realised. You are suffering form an injury and you don't seem to know what it really is. 2 years go by and now you show it to a doctor. The doctor proclaims that the injury was due to inhalation of fumes at work. From that date forward, you have 3 years to claim.
