WHIPLASH ACCIDENT
The whiplash accident is a motor accident that results in injury to the neck of one or more of the passengers, injury which is called whiplash. The most common type of collision in which whiplash occurs is the rear end collision, and it installs itself when the head is suddenly forced back and forth beyond its normal limits. After a whiplash, a common result for that particular person is chronic neck and back pain. The recovery treatment is often long and is made by a chiropractor. A chiropractor is a specialist in treating non surgical spinal injuries, a common form of those being the whiplash. However, the whiplash injury is often underestimated. People don’t realize what happened to them right after the accident. They start having different symptoms in time, because this is an injury that, if untreated, can leave marks for the rest of one’s life. As a matter of fact, most of the people who suffer from whiplash start having symptoms 2 years after the accident. There are various symptoms that could indicate the existence of this affection, and if you can remember a shock suffered by your head, you should see a chiropractor. These symptoms are: neck pain and stiffness, pain in your arms, legs, or feet, headaches, dizziness, fatigue, numbness, ringing in the ears, shoulder pain and stiffness. Aside from the physical effects a whiplash accident can have, there are also psychological repercussions upon the injured person. That’s why, in the treatment of a whiplash, restoring the patient’s confidence is an important step. Rehabilitation has to include also this mental factor if the injured person is to get back and live a normal life.
Often, from the moment one suffers from whiplash, exercises are indicated for the rest of one’s life. Whiplash’s repercussions upon one’s life are not to be taken lightly. Although this is a fact, as I already mentioned before, a whiplash injury is often underestimated. That’s because it isn’t felt that much in its early years of development. As time passes by, people who suffer this kind of illness can be in for a few nasty surprises which have no apparent reason. Wrist pains, numbness in the hands and shoulders, devastating headaches. The list can go on and on as there is a great variety of health issues that relate back in time to the whiplash injury. Of course, it all depends on the seriousness of the injury and not all of them can are that disturbing. However, the reasonable thing to do after a whiplash accident is to contact a medical expert who has a vast experience in whiplash cases. He can tell you everything you need to know about the injury you suffered and how serious it is. If the whiplash accident you suffered wasn’t your fault, you can request a whiplash injury claim. This is another pretty controversial territory because of the nature of the injury. The fact that it’s so hard to predict future consequences of the injury makes an attorney’s job to request a reasonable claim very hard. Still, there are specialized lawyers who deal with these kinds of problems and will help you throughout the whole process. So don’t minimize the importance of an injury neck. It may affect you much more than you think, it may even incapacitate you from working. That’s why you need to get your compensation to which you are entitled, a compensation which will make things right. The long treatments a serious whiplash requires costs money, and if the accident was someone else’s fault, try to get as much compensation as possible. Both the physical and psychological injuries you suffer in case of a whiplash take a long time to heal. After all, the neck is one of the most important parts of one’s body. It’s the connection between your head and the rest of your body. Nerves that transmit information to the brain go through there. I hope I made you think twice when minimizing the importance of the whiplash injury.
